고양이 – How To Say Cat in Korean

How To Say Cat in Korean

Cat in Korean

To help you expand on your basic vocabulary, we will in this lesson learn how to say “cat” in Korean. We have already taken a look at the Korean word for “dog”, so if you haven’t checked out that lesson yet, make sure you do! Anyway, for “cat” you use the word:

go-yang-i

in Hangul: 고양이

= Cat

We all know what a cat is, and there is nothing different about the Korean translation so there is no need for much of an explanation of this word. If you like cats and happen to visit Seoul, you will notice that there are plenty of cat cafes all around the city. It’s definitely something worth experiencing at least once, even if you’re not that much of a cat person, so make sure to try one!

Examples

Ex. 1

고양이 알레르기가 있어요.

[go-yang-i all-eh-reu-gi-ga iss-eo-yo]

= I’m allergic to cats.

Ex. 2

저는 고양이 좋아해요.

[jeo-neun go-yang-i joh-a-hae-yo]

= I like cats.
