농담이에요

[nongdam-ee-eh-yo]

= I’m just kidding (polite)

Now mind you, this is the polite expression which you should use when talking with people who are older than you and people whom you are not close with. For more casual situations, you use:

농담이야

[nongdam-ee-ya]

= I’m just kidding (familiar, informal)

This is the familiar expression for “I’m just kidding” in Korean. You should mainly use this with close friends and siblings.
